KM Bukit Raya, Which Will Become A COVID-19 Isolation Site, Arrives At Belawan Port, Medan

MEDAN - The Bukit Raya motorboat (KM) belonging to PT Pelayaran Nasional Indonesia (Pelni) which will be used as a centralized isolation point (Isoter) arrived at Belawan Port, Medan City, North Sumatra.

Head of PT Pelni Medan Branch Agus Nugroho said that the ship is currently unable to function as a place of isolation, because the arrangement and changes in the shape of the ship will still be carried out for adjustments so that it can be used according to the needs of the isoter location.

"This must be prepared first, starting from the insulation of beds to medical equipment, that will be the Medan City Government," he said, quoted by Antara, Monday, August 16.

Agus said, KM Bukit Raya has a capacity of 970 beds. However, only 450 beds are allocated for COVID-19 patients.

"Because we have to do physical distancing," he said.

Previously, the Medan City Government would make the KM Bukit Raya owned by PT Pelni as an isoter place to anticipate a spike in cases and facilitate the handling of COVID-19 patients.

This ship will be used to treat COVID-19 positive patients with mild symptoms and the category of people without symptoms (OTG).
