Kulon Progo Regency Government Distributes One Ton Of Local Fruits For Health Workers

KULON PROGO - The Kulon Progo Regency Government, Special Region of Yogyakarta, distributed one ton of local fruit to health workers spread across 21 health centers as well as people with confirmed COVID-19 who are undergoing self-isolation.

Head of the Kulon Progo Agriculture and Food Service Aris Nugroho said there were two types of local fruit distributed, namely 527 kilograms of bananas and 485 kilograms of salak.

"The two types of fruit with a total weight of more than 1 ton are distributed to health workers, communities affected by the pandemic, and people undergoing isolation, both independent isolation (isoman) and integrated isolation (isoter) at Rusunawa Giripeni," Aris said, quoted by Antara, Monday. , August 16.

He said the activity was part of the Nusantara Fruit Title and commemoration of the 76th Indonesian Independence Day, as well as an effort to promote the potential of local fruit produced by farmers in Kulon Progo.

The distribution of local fruit is divided into several stages, including the first stage of distributing one ton of fruit to health workers at 21 health centers in Kulon Progo. The second stage is distributed to residents who are undergoing self-isolation and communities affected by the pandemic, such as Islamic boarding schools and Isoter Giripeni.

With the provision of these fruits, it is hoped that it can increase the immunity of health workers who are currently on duty and people who are undergoing isolation. So that exposure to the virus can be prevented and increase the healing rate of confirmed COVID-19 cures. "As we all know fruit is very good for health and immunity," said Aris.

Aris said the distribution of local fruit is expected to increase people's consumption of local fruit, so that farmers are eager to increase fruit production. "Hopefully the increased consumption of fruit in the community will have an impact on increasing local fruit production, and of course increasing farmers' income," he said.

Meanwhile, the Regent of Kulon Progo Sutedjo said that local farmers' fruit production is quite abundant. As well as being able to meet nutritional needs during the current COVID-19 pandemic.

"We hope that by giving these fruits, we hope to be able to increase the immunity of health workers. So that the front line in handling the COVID-19 pandemic can continue to serve the community optimally," he hoped.
