Densus 88 Seizes 1,540 Charity Boxes Allegedly Funding Terrorism From Syam Organizer, Polri: Not Taken From Mosques!

JAKARTA - Detachment 88 Anti-terror confiscated 1,540 boxes of charity allegedly related to funding for terrorism groups. Thousands of charity boxes were obtained from the Syam Organizer Secretariat office.

"So, the search was yesterday, Sunday at the West Java Syam Organizer Foundation Secretariat," said Head of the Public Relations Division of the National Police Public Relations Division, Kombes Ahmad Ramadhan, when confirmed, Monday, August 16.

According to Ramadhan, the charity box is not what it used to be. Because, there is writing 'piggy bank' in one part.

Then, it was confirmed that the thousands of charity boxes were not obtained from mosques or other places. But at the secretariat office located in the Soreang area, Bandung.

"So we didn't take it at mosque places, (but) at the office. Only a lot were secured, 1,540 (charity boxes)," he said.

However, Ramadhan has not provided more details regarding the mechanism for distributing money from the charity box. Because, all related matters will be officially presented this afternoon.

"Everything will be delivered later, yes," said Ramadhan.

For information, Detachment 88 Anti-terror has so far arrested 48 suspected terrorists. They were arrested in various areas. "The total number is 48," Ramadan said.

Of the dozens of suspected terrorists, 7 of them have just been arrested. They are indicated by the Jamaah Islamiyah (JI) network. "Yes, all JI," said Ramadhan.
