Puan Maharani: 76 Years Anniversary, Indonesia Is Optimistic And Tough To Face The Threat Of COVID-19
JAKARTA - Indonesian House of Representatives Chairwoman Puan Maharani attends the MPR Annual Session and the DPR-DPD Joint Session at the Nusantara Building, Parliament Complex, Jakarta, Monday, August 16. This event also coincides with Indonesia's 76th birthday tomorrow, Tuesday, August 17.
Puan is optimistic that at the age of 76, Indonesia must continue to grow into a great nation, as the ideals of the nation's founders despite being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic.
“The people's economy must continue to grow. The quality of the future of children is still being accelerated and development work continues," said Puan in her statement. "Happy 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia. Indonesia is strong, Indonesia is growing," he said.
Puan said that the commemoration of the 76th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia was increasingly meaningful in the midst of this nation's struggle against the COVID-19 pandemic. He invited all elements of the nation to continue to maintain unity and work together to help each other affected by COVID-19. "With the spirit of unity and mutual cooperation of the entire community, we are optimistic that we can overcome this pandemic. United we are strong, together we continue to grow," said Puan.
In this annual state event, Puan together with the leadership of other state institutions will listen to the government's performance report through the President's State Speech. "Hopefully this annual session will further solidify the steps of all state institutions to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic," said Puan. Bung Karno's proclaimer said that the spirit of the '45 fighters who never gave up must be inherited by the nation's children today in order to win against COVID-19. “We don't have to take up arms like our predecessors to expel the invaders. At this time, it is enough for us to carry out health protocols and participate in vaccinations to overcome the pandemic," said the former Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture. Puan said, the DPR together with the government and with the support of the people have worked together to get out of the crisis and rise from the difficult times of the COVID-19 pandemic. One of the roles of the DPR, said Puan, is to approve the state budget to save the people from the threat of COVID-19, both from the health, economic and social aspects. "The DPR will also continue to monitor the government's handling of COVID-19 so that everything the government does is aimed at saving the people from this health disaster," said Puan.
