Annual Session, Parliament Implements Invisible But Maximum Security
JAKARTA - Secretary General of the DPR RI Indra Iskandar said his party would implement maximum security in the implementation of the Annual Session of the MPR RI, the State Speech of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in commemoration of the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI in 2021 on August 16.
"I make sure that security will be less visible but maximum," said Indra at the MPR/DPRDPD RI Building, Jakarta, as reported by Antara, Monday, August 16.
For the security of the implementation of the three agendas of the meeting, said Indra Iskandar, it is not much different from last year, namely maximum security.
However, according to him, this year there is something that sets it apart, namely that physical security will not be too conspicuous or visible.
"Maximum security is still applied as last year. However, physically it doesn't look conspicuous," he said.
Based on Antara's observations in the field, access to the Parliament Complex is only open to the public through the rear entrance, namely Jalan Gelora.
At the entrance, inspections for motorized vehicles are carried out by joint officers from the Presidential Security Forces (Paspampres) and the DPR's Internal Security Officers (Pamdal).
Every car that will enter the Parliament Complex is checked for security with a metal detector and officers from the Tracking Dog Unit or K-9.
In addition, each person is also checked for the completeness of a special access card to enter the Parliament Complex which has been issued by the MPR, DPR, and DPD RI.
Meanwhile, the road to the Nusantara Building, which will be used for the Annual Session, was closed and only used for passing cars of VVIP invited guests.
Indra was reluctant to mention in detail the number of security officers who would secure the event.
Previously, Indra said that the implementation of the MPR RI Annual Session, the State Speech of the President of the Republic of Indonesia in the context of the commemoration of the 76th Anniversary of the Republic of Indonesia, and the Joint Session of the DPR RI and DPD RI in 2021 were simple by implementing strict health protocols.
In addition, he ensured that the ministers who would physically attend include the Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal, and Security Affairs (Menko Polhukam), Coordinating Minister for Human Development and Culture (Menko PMK), Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Minister for State Secretariat, Cabinet Secretary, Minister of Finance, Head of Bappenas, Commander of the Indonesian Armed Forces, and Chief of Police.
