Tammy Abraham Undergoes Medical Tests In Rome, But Must Return To London To Complete Post-Brexit Paperwork
JAKARTA - Tammy Abraham has undergone a medical in Rome and will complete a transfer from Chelsea. However, he had to return to London for a few days to complete the post-Brexit paperwork.
The England international arrived in a deal worth 40 million euros plus a 5 million euro bonus, while Chelsea kept the buyout clause set at 80 million euros.
Abraham landed at Rome's Ciampino Airport on Sunday afternoon accompanied by director Tiago Pinto, then was taken to the Trigoria training ground for a brief meeting with Jose Mourinho.
After meeting the coach, Tammy Abraham headed to the Villa Stuart clinic for a medical.
According to Il Tempo, Abraham does not have to follow the quarantine rules set by the Italian government because he is there to work and has only been in the country for less than 120 hours.
However, he had to fly back to London to complete the paperwork, because after Brexit, a British player no longer qualifies as an EU citizen.
That means Abraham takes up a limited and valuable place for non-EU players in the Blues squad and must apply for a different work permit and visa.
