7 Tribal Chiefs In West Papua Get Red And White Flags From The Military Commander: We Are Still NKRI

JAKARTA - Pangdam XVIII / Cassowary Major General TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa handed over the red and white flag to a number of tribal chiefs in the Arfak Mountains Regency (Pegaf), West Papua Province. This is to instill a sense of love for the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia.

The activity was carried out in a series of red and white tours which were held to welcome the 76th Independence Day of the Republic of Indonesia.

Pangdam XVIII/Casuari Maj. Gen. TNI I Nyoman Cantiasa, said that his party had handed over the red and white flag to seven tribal chiefs representing the tribes in Pegaf to continue flying the red and white flag in Pegaf because it is part of the Republic of Indonesia.

This red and white flag, he said, must continue to be flown on the land of the Arfak mountains for prosperity and peace, so that future generations can achieve their future goals well.

"The process of handing over and raising the red and white flag is a pride and appreciation for the XVIII/Kasuari Military Command to the tribal chiefs in Pegaf," he said as quoted by Antara, Sunday, August 15.

Apri Indou, Chief of the Anggi District, expressed his gratitude to the Pangdam for jointly carrying out the red and white flag-raising ceremony.

"We hereby declare that we will always remain the Unitary State of the Republic of Indonesia," he asserted. After receiving the flag, the three tribal chiefs immediately raised the red and white flag in the Arfak mountains as a sign of love for the Republic of Indonesia.

In addition to handing over the flag, the Pangdam also handed over basic food assistance to people in need in the hope that it could help with their daily needs.
