Beware Of Election Violations 'Masks With Candidate Pair Logo'
JAKARTA - Member of the General Election Supervisory Agency, Mochammad Afifuddin, warned of the potential for new types of violations in the 2020 Pilkada during the COVID-19 period. One of them is related to the distribution of masks by the successful teams around the TPS, especially the masks with the paslon logo. He considered that the distribution of masks was inserted into money (money politics).
"This is a new vulnerability (type) created. This could happen and never happened before", said M. Afifuddin as quoted from the Jakarta Bawaslu website, Monday, June 22.
In addition, there are several notes that have become challenges during this election period. Among other things, people are afraid to come to TPS because they are worried about contracting the corona virus. "We must anticipate this," said the former JPPR National Coordinator.
Furthermore, in the realm of campaign stages, both organizers, participants and voters have to adapt a lot. Moreover, health protocols clearly prohibit gatherings that bring large numbers of people, such as in open campaigns.
"This is the concern of all of us. The point is this problem is our common problem. It cannot be only the burden of the organizers and also election participants", said the man from East Java.
Afif emphasized, in essence adaptation in the emergency period of COVID-19 must be understood by all parties. There should be more socialization through content on social media so that voters are also eager to come to vote.
"However this is important because the situation is not possible through a physical encounter," he added.
Currently, said Afif, all draft Bawaslu Regulations (Perbawaslu) have been prepared as guidelines for conducting supervision that will accompany KPU Regulations (PKPU).
"In the context of the current situation there is no other word except we have to be prepared to adapt", he concluded.
