Firmly, Jefri Nichol Calls Juliari Coal A Coward
JAKARTA - Former Minister of Social Affairs Juliari Batubara pleaded with the panel of judges to be acquitted of all charges. Juliari Batubara was previously charged by the KPK with a sentence of 11 years in prison.
“To the Honorable Panel of Judges, end our suffering by acquitting me of all charges. We pray that the kindness of the Honorable Panel of Judges will be rewarded in kind from God Almighty," said Juliari Batubara in a memorandum of defense (pleidoi) read out in a trial at the Jakarta Corruption Court, Monday, August 9.
Juliari Batubara's defense angered many people, including actor Jefri Nichol. Jefri also voiced his opinion and frustration at Juliari's unreasonable request.
This was revealed by Jefri Nichol through a tweet on his personal Twitter account. In his tweet, Jefri compared Juliari to a mother who is serving a prison sentence with her 10-month-old child, for selling her friend's gold to pay for rent.
Comparing the mother's case with Juliari's, the 22-year-old actor admitted that he was surprised by the request for Juliari's release. Jefri even said that Juliari was a coward who did not dare to take responsibility for his own mistakes.
"Aren't you ashamed of this mother? Juliari is a coward, doesn't dare to go to jail because of her own mistakes and her mistakes have eaten many victims," tweeted Jefri Nichol.
Jefri Nichol's tweet also received many comments from netizens. Many of them were also annoyed by Juliari's free request. Even many netizens also wrote scathing criticism of Juliari.
"This Juliari is not only a coward, he also has no shame, he is still reluctant to ask for freedom," said one account quoted from era.id.
"How come there are people as selfish as this, what did his mother crave for," said another.
"Corruption money should be used to buy brains, so that the father's head does not empty," continued another.
