Anies Names COVID-19 Cemetery Block "Syuhada" And "Saint Yosef-Arimatea"

JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan gave the name of the grave block at the special COVID-19 public cemetery (TPU). This he decided after several times meeting with the family of the COVID-19 corpse at the funeral.

When talking to family members who delivered the bodies to be buried, Anies often gave a message of confirmation that those who had just been buried would be in a noble place by Allah SWT.

"From these conversations later, funeral blocks for residents who died due to COVID-19 were given names with a message of glory. They are not associated as victims of COVID and not just given a block number," Anies said via his Instagram account, Friday, August 13.

In the Muslim funeral block, Anies gave the name of the Martyrs' grave block. Syuhada comes from Arabic which means to fight in the way of Allah SWT.

Meanwhile, for the Christian and Catholic graves, Anies gave the name of the tomb block of Saint Joseph (from) Arimathea. This was decided by Anies' consultation with the FKUB which represented the Christian and Catholic elements.

"Now the tomb blocks are clearly displayed. Let the relatives and grandchildren who in the future come for pilgrimages will meet noble names at the final resting place of their grandparents and ancestors. Rows of tombs that occurred during this pandemic period," he said. Anies.

As of the 12th, there were an additional 42 cases of COVID-19 who died. Thus, since the beginning of the pandemic, there have been 12,908 COVID-19 deaths. A total of 836,687 positive confirmed cases and 813,898 recovered cases.

Regarding the COVID-19 death case, Anies claimed that DKI Jakarta had never reduced or changed the data.

'Deaths during the pandemic are always reported as is. Both the Covid death data are based on criteria from the Ministry of Health, as well as the COVID death data based on the COVID funeral protocol. Because according to WHO, everything needs to be recorded and reported," said Anies.

Even since the beginning of the pandemic, when there was still limited authority and capacity for testing, Anies admitted to using funeral service data to detect that the epidemic had entered the capital from abroad.

"Our principle in DKI Jakarta in dealing with all problems, including COVID-19, is using science, using correct and accurate data, and data transparency," he concluded.
