Shia LaBeouf Gets New Film Project Despite Sexual Assault Lawsuit Still Ongoing

JAKARTA - Actor Shia LaBeouf plays an Italian in the film directed by Abel Ferrara while his sexual assault lawsuit is still ongoing. Director Abel Ferrara revealed that his new film will feature LaBeouf alongside Willem Dafoe.

“We made a film about Padre Pio, a monk from Puglia. It is set in Italy after World War 1,” Ferrara quoted NME as saying today, August 13.

“He is now a saint. He is also in the middle of a political period in the world of history. He was very young before becoming a saint, so Shia LaBeouf will play the monk.”

Abel Ferrara also said the production process would start in Puglia in October.

At the same time, Shia LaBeouf was involved in a lawsuit that was reported by his ex-girlfriend and singer FKA Twigs.

In December 2020, FKA Twigs sued LaBeouf for feeling physically and emotionally abused. LaBeouf's lawyers denied all claims and called the acts of violence wrong because nothing was perpetrated on the basis of sex.

Because of this case, the CAA agency ended their collaboration with Shia LaBeouf and his name was removed from the For Your Consideration list while doing Pieces of a Woman.

The Los Angeles High Court hopes that both parties can mediate and that the next hearing will take place in December.
