Warganet Condemns BPIB Writing Contest 'Respect The Flag According To Islamic Law:' Islamophobia, Shallow And Tend To Discriminate
JAKARTA - The Pancasila Ideology Development Agency (BPIP) has been criticized by netizens on Twitter. This criticism follows a national level writing competition to commemorate National Santri Day 2021.
The theme in writing is about saluting the flag according to Islamic law and singing the national anthem according to Islamic law. Information about the competition was uploaded to the official BPIB Twitter account, @BPIPRI.
One of the criticisms came from Gerindra Party politician Fadli Zon. According to Fadli, the theme of the competition shows how shallow BPIP understands Islam and Pancasila.
"This is a product of acute Islamophobia and tends to accuse Islam of questioning the respect for the flag and the national anthem of Indonesia Raya. Change it immediately so it doesn't divide the nation," tweeted Fadli, @fadlizon, quoted on Friday, August 13.
The BPIP hashtag until this news was published has received the attention of netizens with 2,183 tweets. The majority criticized the theme of the competition.
"Corruption should be in the view of BPIP Tracing the roots of corruption and historical trajectories," wrote the account @IhdaAr****
"Just sharing ideas for the BPIP admin. Students from NU, MU, gen Z, millennials, KPoppers, they are concerned with topics: climate change, planting mangroves, helping with cross-religious covid, etc. Try the current topic: Islamic views on climate change, interfaith work, etc," @ismail****
"BPIP for the writing competition has a shallow theme. It tends to be discriminatory in understanding Islam & Pancasila. It connotes prejudice. It divides the nation and #islamophobia? #reason...!?" tweet @ZAEf**** account.
