TNKB Color Changes Are Carried Out In Stages, The First Batch Of New Vehicles

JAKARTA - The Traffic Corps (Korlantas) said the implementation of the policy of changing the color of the Motor Vehicle Number Sign (TNKB) would be carried out in stages. All of them follow budget management from the government.

"To implement it, we are also gradually following the government's budget management, budgeting for this year first and next year will only procure the TNKB material. After the TNKB is there, we can install it on public motorized vehicles," said Head of Sub-Directorate for STNK Korlantas Polri Kombes Taslim Chairuddin when confirmed, Friday , August 13.

The gradual scheme used is by prioritizing new vehicles. That is, a vehicle that has just been purchased and will be registered with the TNKB.

Then, vehicles whose TNKB validity period has expired or ownership is within 5 years. Thus, when the new plate changes, the color change of the TNKB is carried out.

"If they are replaced simultaneously, who must pay the PNBP. This also needs to be understood by the community so that later it will not be surprised when in the field, there are 2 types of general TNKB, the old and the new," said Taslim.

Previously, it was reported that the Korlantas Polri plans to change the color of the Motorized Vehicle Numbers (TNKB) owned by individuals and legal entities or companies. In the future, the TNKB, which used to have a black base with white writing, will change to the other way around.

The change in TNKB is also a follow-up to Police Regulation Number 7 of 2021 concerning Registration and Identification of Motorized Vehicles. In addition, the change is also to facilitate the prosecution of violations.
