Apple Plans Changing The Name Of IPhone So Apple Phone

JAKARTA - The smartphone manufacturer from Cupertino, United States (US), Apple, reportedly wants to change the name of the iPhone system and device. The company with the Apple logo is rumored to be changing the name of its smartphone to Apple Phone.

Quoting Apple Insider, rumors of the name change will soon be announced at the Worldwode Developers Conference (WWDC) 2020. This was also reinforced by a tweet, Jon Prosser, a tech enthusiast, who said that Apple's new OS name would be iPhone OS.

The post was also answered by Max Weinbach, who claimed to have received an electronic message (email) saying that Apple plans to change the name iOS to iPhone OS. While they also mentioned the iPhone will be converted into an Apple Phone.

In fact, this name change is not so strange, because last year Apple introduced the iPadOS. Despite its iOS base, the Cupertino-based technology giant wants to differentiate between its cellphone and tablet operating systems.

Apple also names other operating systems with reference to its devices, for example the Apple Watch running WatchOS and Apple TV using tvOS. And in 2016, the company led by Tim Cook retired OS X and introduced macOS.

Seeing such a drastic change could affect the sales of the smartphone market. But more specifically, Apple device fans have to wait until the WWDC event which is scheduled for June 22.

During the conference, anyone would expect an upcoming Apple software update. Many suspect that Apple will roll out iPadOS 14, the new WatchOS, and the macOS update.
