It's The Turn Of The Navy's Dimensions, President Jokowi Is Reminded Not To Be Confused In Determining The Candidate For The Commander Of The TNI

JAKARTA - The name of the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa has re-emerged as a strong candidate for the TNI commander in chief to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, who will retire in November 2021.

Apart from Andika from the Army, other candidates for commander-in-chief are Chief of Naval Staff (KSAL) Admiral Yudo Margono and Chief of Air Force (KSAU) Marshal TNI Fadjar Prasetyo.

The Executive Director of the Center for Social Political Economic and Law Studies (Cespels), Ubedilah Badrun, asked President Joko Widodo not to be confused about choosing a candidate for TNI commander. This is because the commander's circulation mechanism is already stated in the law.

"The mechanism for the circulation of the TNI elite is according to Law 34/2004 which stipulates that the Commander of the TNI can be held alternately by active high-ranking officers from each force dimension," said Ubedilah, Friday, August 13.

Ubed explained that the TNI Commander is usually held in rotation by each officer from the Army, Navy and Air Force. Meanwhile, the appointment is cultural, not structural. If you refer to these provisions, said Ubed, the change in the TNI commander in November will be the turn of the Navy.

"I also believe that whoever is the Chief of Staff in the TNI, they are the best cadres in their dimension. Because the TNI is one of the institutions with the clearest and best regeneration in Indonesia," he explained.

Ubed reminded that the president needs to use the logic of the law by taking into account the professionalism, integrity, loyalty and track record of the candidate for commander-in-chief in determining the candidate for commander-in-chief of the TNI. However, there will be a fit and proper test at Commission I of the DPR RI.

"There is no need to worry about the need for DPR approval because the DPR is currently only a government seal because more than 80 percent of the members are the government," said Ubedilah. Previously, DPR Commission I member Fadli Zon supported the Army Chief of Staff (KSAD) General Andika Perkasa, to become the TNI commander to replace Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto, who will retire in November this year. Therefore, Andika is the best figure among the three dimensions in the conditions and situations that Indonesia is currently facing.

"In my opinion, the most suitable person in the current situation is General Andika Perkasa," Fadli Zon told reporters, Tuesday, June 15. Apart from Fadli, member of Commission I of the DPR Efendi Simbolon also believes that General Andika Perkasa will get the full approval of the members of the defense commission. .
