Police Denies Forced Withdrawal Of Richard Lee From His Home, Arrest According To Procedure

JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya straightened the growing news regarding the forced arrest of Dr Richard Lee. In fact, what actually happened was that Dr. Richard had fought back when he was about to be arrested.

The Head of the Cyber Sub-Directorate of the Ditreskrimsus Polda Metro Jaya Kompol Rovan Richard Mahenu said that Richard Lee's form of resistance was refusing to be arrested.

"At that time Brother R refused to join the investigators voluntarily, so at 12.00 the investigators made a forced attempt to arrest Brother R," Rovan told reporters, Thursday, August 12.

Whereas in the arrest process, investigators have complied with existing procedures. Where, the arrest must include an arrest warrant and so on.

"Our members at 7 am had entered Brother R's house and were followed by local security and members of the police. Then explained the case that was being investigated, namely about illegal access and eliminating evidence," said Rovan.

On the other hand, Rovan also denied the news about the arrest of Dr. Richard Lee for the alleged defamation case. Because the case is still under investigation.

"So the news outside stating that this case is related to defamation is a hoax," said Rovan.

As previously reported, Dr Richard Lee was arrested at his residence in Palembang, South Sumatra, Wednesday, August 11. His arrest was based on cases of illegal access and loss of evidence.

In that case, Dr. Richard Lee has been named as a suspect. He was charged with Article 30 in conjunction with Article 46 of the ITE Law and Article 231 of the Criminal Code and/or Article 221 of the Criminal Code.
