Jefri Nichol Tells The Reality Of Cannabis Users

JAKARTA - Actor Jefri Nichol appeared in public for the first time after undergoing rehabilitation related to the use of marijuana. He was present at the discussion on Medical Cannabis Imprisonment which was held by VOI on Thursday, June 18 yesterday.

To refresh memory, in 2019, Jefri was arrested for drug use of the cannabis type. A few moments later, he tested positive for marijuana.

He underwent seven months of rehabilitation. But at that time he realized, in reality, most users are people who need marijuana for medical reasons. Not just for fun. Do not hesitate, in the discussion, Jefri shared his experiences while undergoing rehabilitation.

"The system is a community where fellow users help each other to make recovery. And I think it will help each other to support each other more than in prisons where there is no recovery system at all, "said Jefri.

While undergoing rehabilitation, Jefri carried out various positive activities to keep the users motivated.

The Habibie & Ainun 3 player said how drug transactions in prison still happen even though a prisoner is serving a sentence. Criminalization will not reduce the number of drug users.

Jefri hopes that rehabilitation will make someone more deterrent. "It is possible for users to commit the same act after leaving (prison) because they lack guidance in prison," said the 21-year-old actor.

In addition, for people to truly recover from dependence on cannabis, they need support to recover rather than be more judged.

"Drug convicts are heralded as criminals because the stigma (from) society appears to these former users," said the character of Nathan in this Dear Nathan film.

He hopes, with research on the use of cannabis as a medical, it can begin to reduce the stigma that marijuana is a drug but also a drug.

Outside of marijuana. Jefri Nichol recently starred in a soap opera entitled Pesantren Rock n 'Dut and is continuing the production process for his delayed films.
