Today, There Are Still Many Car Drivers Who Violate Odd-even

JAKARTA - The application of odd-dark (gage) on Jalan MH Thamrin, Menteng, Central Jakarta, was observed to be quiet. The situation of traffic flow that looks deserted is allegedly the effect of office activities that still apply 100 percent Work From Home (WFH).

Even some vehicles were also observed to be violating because they admitted that they did not know about the socialization of the odd-even application.

Meanwhile, in separate places, as many as 20 four-wheeled vehicles passing at odd-even locations on Jalan Medan Merdeka, Gambir, Central Jakarta had to be turned back by officers from the Transportation Agency and Central Jakarta Police.

A number of vehicles were forced to turn around because they had odd number plates. Meanwhile, for today only vehicles with even plates are allowed to pass.

"So for today there are 20 four-wheeled vehicles that have been turned around because the license plates are odd, not the same as the even date that is valid for now," said Deputy Head of Traffic for Central Jakarta Police, Kompol Purwanta at the location, Thursday, August 12.

Furthermore, Kompol Purwanta emphasized that the violators who were forced to turn back were mostly unaware of the odd-even rules that had been applied.

However, he continued, the riders admitted their mistake and immediately turned around without any resistance.

"We just told them to turn around and were encouraged, yes," explained Purwanta regarding the sanctions given to violators.

Regarding the gage application, Purwanta also added that he had socialized to motorists that the odd-even system would be applied again until August 16, 2021 as a substitute for road blocking during PPKM.

As is known, starting from August 12-16, 2021, the DKI Provincial Government has again implemented odd-even on a number of roads in the capital.
