The Death Rate Of COVID-19 Disappears, PKS: The Reason For Wrong Data Input Makes No Sense
JAKARTA - Member of Commission IX of the Indonesian House of Representatives, Kurniasih Mufidayati, highlighted the government's excuse for eliminating the death rate from the COVID-19 handling data indicator. The reason is that there has been a data input error in the last few weeks.
"The reason for inputting data doesn't make sense because our policies on all fronts are often problematic," said Mufida, Thursday, August 12.
According to Mufida, eliminating one of these indicators will actually make the handling of COVID-19 in the country even more bleak. Because he said, the death rate is an important data in measuring the extent to which policies for handling the COVID-19 pandemic are running.
"If you use the government's logic to enter data incorrectly, I'm afraid that all indicators have a chance of being eliminated. For example, the positive rate, BOR and testing numbers that are the WHO standard," he said.
The PKS politician reminded that the government must cooperate with all parties, including receiving input from experts in order to formulate policies. Because according to Mufida, the government cannot handle the COVID-19 pandemic alone. "If the death rate data is omitted, there are readings on the facts on the ground that can be wrong so that the role of experts and the public in providing input does not work," explained Mufida.
The DKI Jakarta legislator quoted experts who stated that vaccination could reduce the risk of death from exposure to COVID-19. Where currently the national vaccination coverage is still very low, especially the transmission rate outside Java-Bali is quite high. Thus, added Mufida, the risk of death is greater due to the tsunami of this delta variant attack. Later, if the vaccination coverage is high and the mortality rate is low, will the data be displayed again? This is like a playful policy," he said.
It is known, the Government issued the COVID-19 death rate from the indicator for determining the PPKM level due to problems in data input caused by the accumulation of death cases in the previous few weeks. This was conveyed by the Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment (Menko Marves) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan when announcing the extension The implementation of Community Activity Restrictions (PPKM) through the Presidential Secretariat's YouTube channel, Monday, August 9. With the release of the death toll from the COVID-19 handling indicators due to data collection problems, there are 26 cities and regencies whose PPKM levels have dropped from level 4 to level 3. "In the implementation of PPKM levels 4 and 3 which will be carried out from 10 to 16 August 2021, there are 26 cities or regencies that have dropped from level 4 to level 3. this shows a significant improvement in conditions in the field," said Luhut. We carried out this evaluation by excluding mortality indicators in the assessment because we did not find the input data which is the accumulation of death rates over the past few weeks. This causes distortions in the assessment," Luhut continued.
