Police Reveals Online Prostitution Of Underage Children Using Hotels Used To Isolate COVID-19 Patients
JAKARTA - Polda Metro Jaya raided the Oyo Townhouse hotel because it was used as an online prostitution site. The hotel was once a location for self-isolation for COVID-19 patients.
"Securing several BO women who are still underage, jockeys and several people who have been caught red-handed are strongly suspected of being or have committed obscene acts," said Director of the General Criminal Investigation of the Metro Jaya Police, Kombes Tubagus Ade Hidayat, to reporters, Tuesday, August 10.
From the raids conducted on Monday, August 9, at night, dozens of people were arrested. They are hotel staff, pimps, and commercial sex workers (PSK).
Unfortunately, all the women who become prostitutes are minors.
"The supervisors, front office officers, 2 pimps, and 8 minor victims were arrested," said Tubagus.
Hotel IsolationFrom the results of the examination and investigation, the Oyo Townhouse hotel had become self-isolated for COVID-19 patients.
"The hotel was once a quarantine place for COVID-19 patients," said Tubagus.
But currently, 50 percent of hotel residents are used for online prostitution. In fact, one room can be filled by four to six children who are used as prostitutes.
"Until now we are still investigating, we are still investigating," he said.
In this case, the police will examine the parties who have been arrested. Later, they can be charged with Article 76 I in conjunction with Article 88 of the Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 17 of 2016 concerning Amendments to Law of the Republic of Indonesia No. 23 of 2002 concerning Child Protection and or Article 296 of the Criminal Code and or Article 506 of the Criminal Code.
