4 Protections That The Government Must Do During PPKM Applicability
JAKARTA - The central government announced that the implementation of restrictions on community activities (PPKM) level 2-4 in Java-Bali was extended to August 16. The Deputy Chairperson of the Sukamta PKS Faction, assessed that there were still many problems in the field that had not been resolved with the implementation of PPKM. As there is still a shortage of oxygen to the delay in the distribution of social assistance.
According to him, the current situation is more complicated. On the one hand, the rate of transmission and death due to COVID-19 is still high, on the other hand, the people at the bottom are screaming because of the increasingly severe economic conditions. "Why did this complicated situation occur? Because the handling of COVID-19 with the PPKM policy did not depart from the formula for Law No. 6 of 2018 concerning Health Quarantine. The government made policies by changing terms which confused many parties," said Sukamta, Tuesday. , August 10.
Sukamta then asked the government to focus more on the four protections during the PPKM implementation. Because, he said, if the government hopes to use the Health Quarantine Law formula by conducting regional quarantine or PSBB, it seems difficult to materialize.
"First, the most important thing is to protect lives and health, both for the community and for health workers," explained Sukamta. Currently, he said, the daily death rate is still above 1,000 cases, the highest in the world. Therefore, the government must focus on reducing the death rate by providing adequate health facilities and infrastructure to the regions.
Second, the government must protect the poor and economically vulnerable by ensuring that the basic needs of the community are met. The restriction policy must be accompanied by the provision of appropriate and equitable social assistance, including for casual workers, daily workers, informal sector workers who have lost their income.
Third, the protection of Indonesian territory by tightening the entrance. In particular, the gate for foreign arrivals. "Don't repeat your carelessness in maintaining access to the entrance to Indonesia, so that the delta variant can enter and create a very high spike in COVID-19 cases," explained a member of Commission I of the DPR.
Fourth, during this pandemic the government must also protect people's personal data. The reason is, during the pandemic there were several cases of data leakage, there was also the use of NIK by foreigners for vaccine purposes. "All of this must be thoroughly investigated and this also reminds how urgent the existence of the Data Protection Law is," he said.
