Minister Of Religion Invites To Strengthen The Spirit Of Mutual Cooperation In Commemorating 1 Muharram

JAKARTA - Minister of Religion Yaqut Cholil Qoumas invites all Muslims to strengthen the spirit of hijrah and mutual cooperation in commemorating the New Year of 1 Muharram 1442 Hijriah.

"Happy New Year 1 Muharram 1443 H. Let's strengthen the spirit of hijrah and the spirit of mutual cooperation in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic," said Minister of Religion Yaqut, quoted by Antara, Monday, August 9.

Yaqut said 1 Muharram always reminds Muslims of the historic moment of the Prophet's migration from Mecca to Medina. One of the spirit of hijrah is the ability to move, change, and adapt in response to situations and conditions.

Migration, he said, could have a physical meaning, but it could also mean an attitude. In responding to the pandemic, one of the emigration efforts is to always apply health protocols to protect yourself and others as part of adjustment.

"The pandemic forces us to make adjustments and changes towards a new normal. One of the spirits of hijrah in the context of a pandemic is to apply 5M procedures and discipline," he said.

According to him, solidarity and mutual cooperation are the keys so that the COVID-19 pandemic can be resolved immediately. The government cannot work alone, it needs participation from all levels of society so that the pandemic ends.

"In the midst of a pandemic, welcome the new year with simplicity and full of gratitude. Continue to apply the 5M+1D procedures and discipline, namely wearing masks, washing hands, maintaining distance, staying away from crowds, reducing mobility and praying. Hopefully the pandemic will pass quickly," he said.

With all the efforts to deal with COVID-19 that has been done and incessantly praying, he hopes that the pandemic will end soon and life will return to normal as usual.

"Hopefully the pandemic will end soon and we will welcome a healthier and more advanced future," he said.
