BMKG Asks Fishermen To Beware Of High Waves In The Southern Waters Of Banyuwangi Up To 7 Meters

BANYUWANGI - The Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) appealed to fishermen and residents to be aware of high waves in the southern waters of Banyuwangi.

Today the wave height reaches 3 to 3.5 meters in the southern waters of Banyuwangi. However, the wave height will continue to increase until the next week.

Starting on August 12, the wave height is expected to reach 6 to 7 meters in the next week.

"So that activities in the southern waters of Banyuwangi are advised to be vigilant," said BMKG Banyuwangi forecaster Dita Purnamasari when contacted, Monday, August 9.

He said this wave height was due to high air pressure in the southern waters of Banyuwangi.

Previously reported, KM Bintang Sonar was reported to have sunk in the waters of Plengkung, Banyuwangi. When it sank, the ship was carrying 10 crew members (ABK).

The ship belongs to a resident of Kedungrejo, Muncar, named Mashudi.

According to the surviving crew members, the ship plans to return to Muncar Harbor at 04.10 WIB.

However, around Batu Dua, Tanjung Bantengan, the ship was hit by high waves, rain and strong winds.

Water also entered the ship, so that KM Bintang Sonar sank.

Of the 10 crew members, six fishermen survived, namely Bambang Budiono, Abdul Hadi, Yon Mulyono, Moh. Sugiyanto, Muhammad Efendi, and Waris. All of them are residents of Muncar District, Banyuwangi.
