Online Single Submission (OSS) Inaugurated, Sri Mulyani Says Investors Can Get Permits Without Leaving Home
JAKARTA - Minister of Finance (Menkeu) Sri Mulyani welcomed the launch of the Online Single Submission (OSS) system which was considered to bring many conveniences for investors in terms of investing.
At a press conference held virtually today, the Minister of Finance even said that this step is one of the most significant implementations in line with the various structural reform agendas that the government is currently pursuing.
"This OSS launch is something really radical, and it is hoped that it will change the way we serve the public and the business world, and this is also Indonesia's effort to improve the investment climate," he said on Monday, August 9.
One of the examples put forward by the Minister of Finance is how easy it is for investors to obtain business licensing status.
“We see this as an extraordinary structural change or reform, because now entrepreneurs don't have to bother, they don't even need to leave their homes and can immediately get permits (online). There are no more fees and burdensome regulations," he said.
Another thing explained by the state treasurer is that the government is now providing unconditional facilities for business categories that are not too large in scale.
“The most important thing in this OSS system is the self-declaration aspect. So, if the business is a small or medium-sized business with low risk, the permit will automatically be issued immediately and without any requirements. But if the business permit requires an environmental permit because the category is high, then he will go through one certain requirement,” he explained.
Furthermore, the Minister of Finance wants all government policies that are oriented to the ease of investing can be immediately utilized by investors to increase economic activity in the country.
“We want these efforts to provide certainty. Through high investment, we want the economic recovery during the pandemic to be healthy and strong," he said.
On the same occasion, the Minister of Investment/Head of BKPM Bahlil Lahadalia said that the capital activities carried out by entrepreneurs contributed positively to economic improvement which was really needed at this time.
“Businessmen, rest assured that you are a foreign exchange hero for the country, you can help the government in creating jobs. For that, let's business friends can multiply their projects so that we can build this job field together. All of this is of course for one goal, the welfare of the people, nation and state," he said.
For information, OSS is a one-stop integrated system that is specially made to facilitate domestic investment activities. This strategy is a form of implementation of the enactment of the Job Creation Law which is the basis of a number of structural reform agendas that are being pursued by the government.
