Sad News, Jazz Musician Bob Ringwald Passes Away

JAKARTA - The jazz musician and father of actress Molly Ringwald, Bob Ringwald, passed away on Monday, August 2.

Molly shared this news via Instagram on Saturday, August 7 without mentioning the cause of her father's departure.

“It is with a heavy heart that our family says goodbye to my father. I feel I am lucky to have had him in my life. Robert Scott Ringwald 1940-2021," said the Pretty in Pink star.

Bob Ringwald was born on November 26, 1940 in Roseville, California. Molly said the father had been blind since he was a child but he was declared totally blind when his son was a teenager.

Despite these conditions, Bob grew up with jazz music. He started piano lessons at the age of eight and began studying guitar and banjo. The Rhythemaires were his first jazz group at the age of 13.

In addition, there are the band Sugar Willie and the Cubes, The Great Pacific Jazz Band, and The BoonDockers.

Bob graduated from school in 1960 and married Adele Frembd. They have three children: Molly, Beth, and Kelly while their fourth child, Robert Scott Jr. died of leukemia.

Bob was also the figure behind the Sacramento Jazz Festival in 1974. He focused on modern jazz and transitioned to traditional jazz.

In 2012, Bob was named 'The Emperor of Jazz' for his involvement in the industry.

Bob Ringwald has died at the age of 80.
