KPK Explains Why Interpol Site Didn't Post Harun Masiku's Name Even Though Red Notice Has Been Issued

JAKARTA - Interpol Indonesia's National Central Bureau (NBC) has issued a red notice against Harun Masiku. However, Harun's name is not on the list of wanted Indonesians on the Interpol website.

Acting KPK spokesman Ali Fikri explained that the KPK had coordinated with NBC Interpol Indonesia regarding this matter. Ali said Interpol only displayed the names of fugitives at the request of other countries.

"There are several international fugitives listed, they are requests from other countries, so if there is a request from another country it is indeed listed in the Interpol NCB Indonesia. If it is from a request from Indonesia itself, it is not listed," said Ali in a virtual press conference. , Sunday, August 8th.

However, Ali said members of Interpol and law enforcement could still access Harun Masiku's name on the site. Moreover, he said, the unpublished name of Harun on the official Interpol website did not reduce the search for the fugitive.

"So even if the red notice data is not published later, it can still be accessed by Interpol members and law enforcement through the Interpol system network. Unpublished does not reduce the search for the fugitive because other countries can access it," he explained.

Meanwhile, KPK Investigation Director Setyo Budiyanto confirmed that Harun is currently abroad. The former PDIP candidate is a suspect in the alleged bribery case related to the appointment of members of the DPR RI elected in 2019-2024 who have had DPO status since January 2020.

"Based on information, it is suspected that the person concerned (Harun) left Indonesia or was abroad," said Budiyanto.

Budiyanto said that Harun's information no longer existed in Indonesia became the basis for Indonesia to send a red notice request to NCB Interpol Indonesia. Currently, the red notice on behalf of Harun Masiku has been issued.

"It is a form that we are serious, one of which is making efforts through coordination with the NCB, because it is to anticipate. The leadership (KPK) has said before, this effort is a step to be able to find out the whereabouts of the person concerned," he said.

Furthermore, Budiyanto said that several countries had coordinated with the NCB. However, that information is temporarily internal.
