Private Sector Is Named As A Suspect In The Case Of Bribery In Palu APBD Jambi, KPK: Wants To Get A Project At The Public Works Service

JAKARTA - The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has again named a suspect in the bribery case of "knock hammer" ratification of the Jambi Province RAPBD for the 2017-2018 fiscal year.

The suspect is Paut Syakarin, a private businessman. This determination was made after the arrest of the suspect.

KPK Director of Investigation Setyo Budiyanto explained that Paut was named a suspect for bribing DPRD members with the aim of getting a project at the Jambi Provincial Public Works Office in 2017.

"The money given by the suspect PS was allegedly so that his company could obtain several projects at the Jambi Provincial Public Works Department in 2017," said Setyo Budiyanto in a virtual press conference, Sunday, August 8.

More specifically, Paut acts as a funder and provides additional knock-on money for members of Commission III of the Jambi DPRD with an amount of Rp. 150 million each related to the Jambi Province RAPBD for the 2017 fiscal year.

The amount of funds that Paut has prepared is Rp23 billion. The details, amounting to IDR 325 million in November 2016 for 13 members of Commission III, each of whom received IDR 25 million. Then, money amounting to Rp. 1.950 billion around the end of January 2017 to 13 other members of Commission III.

Previously, Paut had been properly summoned for examination. However, he was absent, so an attempt was made to force him to arrest him.

"The arrest effort on Saturday, August 7, 2021 took place in the Tebing Tinggi Village, Tebo Tengah District, Tebo Regency, Jambi by the Investigative Team in coordination and assisted by the ranks of the Tebo Police Criminal Investigation Unit, Jambi," he explained.

Currently, Paut was detained by the KPK for the first 20 days at the KPK Detention Center Pomdam Jaya Guntur Branch from August 8 to August 27, 2021.

In the investigation into the alleged corruption in the bribery of the DPRD, the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has confiscated an amount of around Rp. 8.075 billion.

So far, 22 people have been named as suspects, consisting of the governor, the leadership of the DPRD, the leadership of the DPRD faction, and the private sector.
