Leaks From PSG Officials, Messi's Contract Will Be Announced Soon

JAKARTA - PSG will soon get Lionel Messi after the Argentine captain chose to join the French giants.

The six-time Ballon d'Or winner is said to have personally contacted PSG boss Mauricio Pochettino. It is now claimed that Messi will complete the signing of the contract after the fateful talks between PSG's Jorge Messi, his father, on Saturday, August 7.

A tweet from the Twitter account of Khalifa Bin Hamad Al-Thani, a relative of PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi, stated that negotiations were 'officially concluded' on Friday evening and full details would be announced 'later'.

PSG moved quickly to realize that Messi had also studied other options with his former Barcelona manager, Pep Guardiola, who has been constantly linked with a move to Manchester City.

According to RMC Sport, Messi is ready to sign an initial two-year contract with the option of an additional year. Al-Khelaifi, PSG's owner, is reportedly leading talks with Messi's family.

The Telegraph has also reported that a detailed meeting and proposal was presented to Messi's father on Saturday,

Brazilian star Neymar reportedly also spoke with Messi a few days before the shock news left Barca last week. Neymar is also said to have played an important role in the Argentina captain's final decision. The PSG playmaker is even said to have offered Messi the number 10 shirt at the Parc des Princes.

But Mauricio Pochettino remained tight-lipped when asked about Messi in a press conference on Friday. He, however, insisted that his team concentrate on their top-flight opener at Troyes on Saturday.

Ahead of his first full season as coach, Pochettino admits PSG are working 'in a prudent manner' to 'improve the team in any way possible'.

"I haven't spoken to [Messi]. And [every step] doesn't mean that Kylian will leave," Pochettino said.

"Players of Messi's caliber, that's what appeals to me. The club is working on several options, but we have to focus on the game against Troyes on Saturday.

"In terms of Lionel Messi, we know what happened yesterday. I wouldn't say anything different from that," Pochettino said

At PSG, Pochettino can create a formidable forward line by uniting Messi with Neymar and France forward Kylian Mbappe, whose contract at the club expires next year.
