The Lonely Island's Palm Springs Comedy Movie Trailer Released

JAKARTA - The romantic comedy film Palm Springs released its inaugural trailer on Tuesday, June 16, time in the United States (US). Produced by The Lonely Island, a comedy group from the United States, this film stars member Andy Samberg who is paired with Cristin Milioti.

Seeing the synopsis of Palm Springs, this film offers a unique love story. It is said, Nyles (Andy Samberg) met the witness of the bride, Sarah (Cristin Milioti) at a wedding in Palm Springs. The two of them feel love but later discover that they are trapped in the marriage.

In the two-minute trailer, Nyles and Sarah are depicted waking up in the same place - the location of the wedding. Those who initially enjoyed the repetition of the day grew bored and began to think of ways to get out of this situation.

Initially, the Palm Springs film was projected to appear at the 2020 Sundance Film Festival until the aftermath of COVID-19 attacked and canceled the entire series of events including the presence of this film. Neon and Hulu rushed to buy Palm Springs for 22 million US dollars, making this film the highest-selling festival film.

Directed by Max Barbakow, Palm Springs received appreciation and positive criticism from well-known critics, including Roger Ebert. Reportedly, this film takes references from classic comedy such as Groundhog's Day and Pop Star: Never Stop Never Stopping. Cyndi Lauper's Time After Time also plays beautifully in the trailer, a kind of teaser for fans of past comedy films.

As well as Samberg and Milioti, Palm Springs stars JK Simmons, Camila Mendes, Meredith Hagner, Tyler Hoechlin, and Peter Gallagher.
