Sweet Dating Ends In Disaster At D'Paragon Semarang, Raras Kurnia Strangled With Popcorn For 17 Years Of Acquaintance On Social Media

JATENG - Police arrested a man who killed a woman named Raras Kurnia Dewi (29), a resident of the D'Paragon Semarang boarding house, Jalan Jogja, Semarang City.

Semarang Police Chief Kombes Irwan Anwar said the murder took place about a month ago. The perpetrator is known to have the initials GDM (17), a resident of Keldung, Temanggung Regency.

"After being investigated, the Semarang Police Resmob team arrested the suspect in Wonosobo," said Irwan, quoted from Antara, Friday, August 6.

According to him, apart from killing, the perpetrators also took away the victim's cell phone. He explained that the perpetrator used the mode of acquaintance and dating the victim through social media.

The perpetrator went to the victim at his boarding house in D'Paragon Semarang after previously getting to know him through social media. While on a date in the boarding room, he said, the perpetrator used his inadvertence to strangle the victim to death.

"After it was confirmed that he was dead, the perpetrator then put the victim's body on the bed with a pillow covering his head to make it look like he died from suffocation," he said.

He added that the perpetrator took away the victim's cell phone, which was dead.

The police chief revealed that a similar crime mode was also carried out in Wonosobo.

"The method is the same, getting to know each other then dating, then the victim is strangled. But the incident in Wonosobo, the victim is still alive," he said.

For his actions, the suspect was charged with Article 338 of the Criminal Code regarding murder and Article 365 of the Criminal Code regarding theft.
