Two Days Exposed To COVID-19, Village Head Of Pondok Bambu Dies

JAKARTA - Sobs broke out during the release of the body of the village head of Pondok Bambu Angga Sastra Amidjaya who died due to exposure to the COVID-19 virus. This young village head who graduated from STPDN is known by the residents as a friendly and humble village head.

As a final tribute, the late Lurah Angga Sastra received his last respects in the courtyard of the East Jakarta City Government Office. The honor was led directly by the Mayor of East Jakarta, Muhamad Anwar.

When leading the release and honoring ceremony for the bodies, East Jakarta Mayor Muhamad Anwar couldn't help but cry when he released the hearse with the COVID-19 protocol.

"Today, East Jakarta is in mourning. We have lost the best son in East Jakarta. One of the Lurah is Pondok Bambu Angga Sastra Amidjaya," Mayor Muhamad Anwar told reporters, Thursday, August 5.

Anwar recalled that the late Lurah Angga was known to be very polite, kind and responsible with his work.

"Never did he refuse orders or leave work, he was always happy. We were left with good people. His personality was very good, I conveyed to his patient and steadfast family. I hope he died husnul khotimah, he died of the plague," said Anwar.

The departure of the Pondok Bambu Village Head made the residents of Pondok Bambu very sad.

"Where he served, he had a good impression. We pray together, we take a good example from the deceased. He died exposed to COVID-19," he explained.

From the observations of VOI journalists, family and relatives and the ranks of the City Government also could not hold back tears over the departure of the Lurah who was known to be persistent in fighting to prevent the residents of Pondok Bambu from being exposed to COVID-19. During his lifetime, Lurah Angga also continued to struggle to reduce the number of COVID-19 around the East Flood Canal, which was prone to crowds of residents.

According to information compiled, the Lurah Pondok Bambu died after two days of exposure to the COVID-19 virus. He died while being treated at Duren Sawit Hospital, East Jakarta on Wednesday, August 4, last night.

The village head of Pondok Bambu was buried at the TPU Utan Kayu Kemiri, Rawamangun with the COVID-19 protocol.
