COVID-19 Update As Of August 5th: New Cases Of 35,764, Recovers Increase By 39,726

JAKARTA - The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) released the latest additional positive cases of COVID-19 as of today. A total of 248,5556 specimens were examined today. As a result, there were 35,764 new positive cases of COVID-19.

"The total accumulation of positive cases since COVID-19 was discovered in Indonesia has reached 3,532,567 people and 518,310 active cases," according to data from the Ministry of Health, Thursday, August 5.

Today's recovered cases increased by 39,726 cases, bringing the total to 2,947,646 recovered people. Then, positive confirmed cases who died increased by 1,739 people and a total of 102,375 people.

The province with the most new cases was in West Java with 4,718 cases and a total of 627,150 cases. Followed by Central Java which has 4,252 new cases with a total of 402,091 cases. East Java has 4,074 new cases and a total of 326,809 cases. Then, DKI Jakarta has 2,311 new cases and a total of 825,657 cases.

The province with the most recovered cases today belongs to West Java with an additional 9,632 recovered cases. Followed by Central Java with an increase of 7,303 recovered cases, East Java with an additional 4,650 recovered cases, and DKI Jakarta with an additional 2,759 recovered cases.

No province has reported no new cases as of today. In addition, the number of specimens that have been examined using RT-PCR, TCM, and antigens reached 27,348,904.

"Positive results per number of specimens examined or this week's positivity rate of 30.75 percent," he wrote.

The number of people suspected of contracting COVID-19 or who are currently categorized as suspected cases, was recorded at 172,063 people. Currently, 34 provinces have had cases of COVID-19.

To date, 48,834,123 people have received the first dose of COVID-19 vaccination and 22,210,379 people have received the second dose of vaccination. Meanwhile, the target for vaccination in Indonesia is 208,265,720 people.
