Two Studies Prove, Plant-Based Food Diet Can Maintain Heart Health
JAKARTA – Taking into account what foods are consumed is the same as maintaining long-term health. Do you include using these methods to ensure the body stays healthy?
With a plant-based diet, for example, the majority of food consumption is plant-based. This is proven in two recent studies that can maintain heart health.
Reported by Medical News Today, Thursday, August 5. The first study found that people with more plant-based diets had lower rates of heart disease. This study has followed participants for 32 years.
In addition to focusing on heart health in general, postmenopausal women also found that a plant-based diet also decreased the risk of heart disease.
The first study can be a reference to maintain your heart health. You can include fresh food instead of processed food because it is not only good for the heart but also for the overall health condition.
The study, published in the Journal of the American Heart Association, involved 5,000 participants aged 18-30 years. The study, which spanned more than three decades, noted that none of the participants had heart problems when the study began.
Doctors then evaluate the food they eat and score the quality of the diet each year. At the end of the study, nearly 300 people with cardiovascular disease had fewer plant-based diets.
In contrast, a diet rich in plant-based foods was 52 percent less likely to develop heart problems.

Future studies are still exploring the benefits of a plant-based diet. The study followed participants for more than ten years to track health trends and food choices.
Doctor Yuni Choi, a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Minnesota School of Public Health, said the following.
“A plant-based diet rich in nutrients is beneficial for heart health. A plant-based diet is not necessarily vegetarian”.
You can choose plant-based foods that are as close to nature as possible and aren't always processed, says Choi. Animal products may occasionally be consumed, as long as they are not fried, such as poultry, fish, eggs, and low-fat dairy products.
Based on USDA (The United States Department of Agriculture) recommendations, the following foods are good for a healthy diet:
- Fruit
- Vegetables
- Grains
- Milk
- Protein
A nutritionist with a health management degree and founder of KAK Consulting, Kristin Kirkpatrick says it's never too late to start a plant-based diet for longevity and metabolic health.
