BPS Brings Good News! Economic Growth Grows 7.07 Percent In Second Quarter 2021
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported that Indonesia's economic growth in the second quarter of 2021 was 7.07 percent on an annual basis compared to the same period the previous year (year-on-year/yoy).
Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) Margo Yuwono said the formation of gross domestic product (GDP) at current prices (ADHB) in the second trimester of this year was IDR 4,175.8 trillion.
"Meanwhile, if we value it based on the constant base price (ADHK), GDP in the second quarter of 2021 is IDR 2,772.8 trillion," he said in a virtual press conference, Thursday, August 5.
Margo added, when compared to the previous quarter, namely the first quarter of 2021 (quartal-to-quartal/qtq) 3.31 percent.
"So, on a yoy basis, Indonesia's economic growth was 7.07 percent, while in terms of qtq it grew 3.31 percent," he said.
Meanwhile, economic growth throughout this year or in the first semester of 2021 (January-June) is 3.10 percent compared to the first semester of 2020.
"Positive growth in the second quarter of this year was caused by several things, namely the rebound from the second quarter of 2020 which was depressed quite deeply. Then, in the second quarter of this year, there is the momentum of Ramadan and Eid, as well as improvements in community mobility," he said.
