Not Included In The Formula E Calendar, Anies Renegotiates With The FIA Regarding The Certainty That Jakarta Will Become The Organizer
JAKARTA - DKI Jakarta Governor Anies Baswedan admitted to renegotiating Formula E Operation (FEO) so that Jakarta could continue to be the organizer of Formula E.
This was done after the manager of Formula E in New York, United States (US), released a temporary calendar for the implementation of Formula E in 2022 without the name Jakarta as the host.
On its official website, fiaformulae.com, the FIA released 16 races in 12 cities. Although there is no name Jakarta on the list of organizers, however, one schedule with TBD information or to be determined on June 4, 2022.
This renegotiation was carried out by the BUMD PT Jakarta Propertindo, as the organizer of Formula E, on the orders of Anies.
"PT Jakarta Propertindo has renegotiated with the FEO regarding the confirmation and clarity of the status of the continuation of the cooperation, the time of implementation, and the status of the funding that has been paid," Anies said in an explanatory document regarding the changes to the 2017-2022 RPJMD, quoted on Thursday, August 5.
During the renegotiation, Anies temporarily suspended part of the budgeting and payment of Formula E obligations, namely in phase 2 of 2020.
Then, the results of the negotiations have come out. Anies said that the commitment fee that had been paid previously was not forfeited and could still be used to organize the electric car racing event.
"The commitment fee funds that have been realized will still be able to be used as a condition for the implementation of the Formula E event which was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic and was subsequently agreed to be included in the addendum to the agreement," said Anies.
Then, the commitment fee budget for the 2022 implementation whose payments have been temporarily suspended will be rescheduled.
This is because, at this time, FEO has not issued any certainty regarding whether Jakarta will continue to host Formula E or not because it is waiting for the development of the pandemic.
"The payment of the commitment fee for the 2022 event and beyond will be rescheduled after the certainty of the implementation of Formula E taking into account the end of the COVID-19 pandemic," he explained.
