For Candy Dinars In Bikini Extended PPKM Protests, This Is The Government's Response
JAKARTA - Artist Dinar Candy in bikini on the streets protesting the extension of the PPKM. The government emphasized that the PPKM extension was based on COVID-19 cases including patient mortality.
“Our death rate is still high. You must always be on the lookout for the highly contagious delta variant. The increase in COVID-19 cases due to the delta variant is experienced by many countries in the world. The Delta variant is able to reduce the efficacy of all types of vaccines," said Spokesperson for the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime Affairs and Investment, Jodi Mahardi to VOI, Wednesday, August 4.
Jodi explained that the government is currently tightening community activities and mobility but also increasing the capacity of hospitals, drugs and oxygen.
“But this is not a solution that can be done continuously because it is very costly and unsustainable. Effective solutions to contain or delay the next wave are health protocols and vaccinations," continued Jodi.
The government extended the implementation of PPKM level 4 from 3 to 9 August with some adjustments to activities and community mobility according to the conditions of each region.
This decision was taken based on the consideration of input from experts, the community, and the results of monitoring during the implementation of the PPKM in the previous period, which showed that the mobility index was increasing and many regions were still ignoring health protocols.
"Although the monitoring results show improvements on a national scale, both daily cases, active case rates, cure rates and BOR percentages," said Jodi.
The public is asked to take advantage of the momentum for the extension of the PPKM to improve the handling of COVID-19 in their respective regions.
“The trick is to discipline the process and reduce mobility. We hope that if the number of cases falls evenly in each region, next week many regions will lower their PPKM levels," continued Jodi.
