Head of the Data and Information Technology Division of the COVID-19 Handling Task Force, Dewi Nur Aisyah, explained that the increase in the death rate for COVID-19 cases from June to July increased by 348 percent.

"From June to July this is a record. Within one month there was an increase in the number of monthly deaths by an absolute increase of 27,409 deaths or 4 times higher than the number of deaths in June," said Dewi in a virtual discussion, Wednesday, August 4. .

Meanwhile, the increase in deaths in the previous months was not higher than in July. Based on data since the beginning of the year, the monthly death toll from January to February fell 14 percent.

"February to March also fell 22 percent. Then, from March to April it fell 6.91 percent," said Dewi.

Then, the increase in the death rate began to be seen from April to May. In that month, there was an increase in the absolute number of deaths by 552 cases and a percentage increase of about 12 percent.

"After that, the increase in the death rate from May to June began to increase somewhat drastically, increasing to 55 percent," he said.

Back in July, Dewi dissects the increase in deaths per week. In the first week of July the death toll was 4,400. In the second week it rose to 6,300, in the third week it rose to 8,300, and in the fourth week it rose to 11,076 deaths.

"We can see that every week there is an increase in the number of weekly deaths. On average, it means that in the last week of July, 1,582 people died in one day," said Dewi.

"In the second week of August, the expectations have started to fall much lower," he continued.

For information, today the positive confirmed cases who died increased by 1,747 people and the total was 100,636 people. Today's recovered cases increased by 34,251 cases, bringing the total to 2,907,920 recovered people.

Meanwhile, there have been an increase of 35,867 new positive cases of COVID-19, bringing the total cases since the beginning of the pandemic to date have reached 3,532,567 cases.
