The Novel Baswedan Case That Swirled Between Jokowi And The Police
JAKARTA - The case of sprinkling hard water against Novel Baswedan has yet to find a bright spot. It has been more than two years that the incident has passed. However, the perpetrator's figure has not been revealed.
Several times President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) has given the Police a time limit to resolve cases. A technical team consisting of selected people from various institutions was also formed. It's just that, the maximum results are never obtained. Because, the mastermind behind the case is still a mystery.
Jokowi has also summoned General Idham Aziz who is the National Police Chief called to present the results of the investigation. Monday, December 9, Jokowi and Idham Aziz held a meeting at the Presidential Palace.
In that presentation, it was said that there was progress. However, there was no explanation regarding the progress in question. The day after the meeting, Jokowi made a statement. It was said that the Police were again given time to immediately unveil the case.
The number of days is called the time for the National Police to thoroughly investigate the case and immediately convey it to the wider community.
"The police chief answered that there are new findings that have reached a conclusion. Therefore, I will not give you any more time. I will say immediately who (the perpetrator) is," said Jokowi at Hotel Mulia, Jakarta, Tuesday, December 10.
Responding to the time given, Karo Penmas Penmas DivHumas Polri Brigadier General Pol Argo Yuwono said that investigators in this case had taken a number of disclosure steps using inductive and deductive methods.
Then, dozens of witnesses have also been questioned. Also, CCTV camera footage that was sent to Australia to sharpen image quality. Then, several chemical shops around the location have also been inspected.
"Of course the investigators are still working hard. Hopefully what is the hope of our common hope like the President of all people is related to this case," said Argo.
"Hopefully there will be a bright point, that later we will convey it as soon as possible. The investigator has coordinated with the KPK several times, what we have done as an investigator, we have involved the KPK in the investigation," he continued.
Meanwhile, Deputy Chairman of the Corruption Eradication Commission Laode M Syarif responded well to the new findings in the case. So, it is said that the National Police must immediately reveal and arrest the sprinklers and the mastermind behind this heinous terror
"If there is new evidence and it will be revealed, we are very happy at the KPK, we are very happy and supportive," said Laode.
With the disclosure of the case, the National Police will receive a positive response from the public. Moreover, the protection of KPK employees is an important part of the corruption eradication process.
"So, if for example we are not able to protect KPK employees, including for example bombing my house, that is also one of the contradictions," said Laode.
