Avoid Residents' Rage, Motorcycle Thief Dies By Hitting The Sidewalk
MAJALENGKA – The Criminal Investigation Unit of the Majalengka Police has arrested a gang of motor vehicle theft (curanmor). Of the four perpetrators, one of them died after having an accident due to being chased by residents. The other two are still being chased.
"Two other suspects have been identified and are still being pursued," said Head of Criminal Investigation Unit at Majalengka Police, AKP Siswo DC Tarigan to VOI sources, Wednesday, August 4.
Siswo explained that the incident occurred on August 2, 2021. The mode of the perpetrators entered the yard and immediately took two motorbikes in a garage owned by residents.
However, their action failed when the residents found out that something was wrong in their environment. The perpetrator who was using a motorbike fled after residents tried to catch him. A chase between the perpetrators and residents ensued, but one of the four fell into the pavement.
"The suspect, who had an accident, is in critical condition. By residents, the suspect was immediately rushed to the local health center. But unlucky, his life could not be saved and was declared dead," said Siswo.
The police who received the report immediately went to the crime scene and asked for statements from a number of witnesses. From the results of the investigation, the Majalengka Police Resmob Team managed to apprehend another perpetrator.
"The suspect we have detained has the initials HR (24) while the identity of the perpetrator who died has not been identified (MrX). Meanwhile, the other two perpetrators have been designated as the People's Wanted List (DPO)," he explained again.
A number of pieces of evidence in the form of two motorbikes, vehicle documents and ignition keys to fake keys and other evidence were successfully secured.
"The theft suspect who has been successfully arrested will be charged with Article 363 of the Criminal Code, with a threat of 7 years in prison," said Siswo.
