China Becomes The Main Export Destination For West Sulawesi, Semester I 2021 Reaching USD 132.77 Million

JAKARTA - China occupies the first position as an export destination for West Sulawesi (Sulbar) Province accumulatively during January to June 2021 with an export value of 132.77 million US dollars.

"Exports to the Philippines are in second place with a cumulative value of 69.13 million US dollars, while exports to Pakistan are in third place with a cumulative value of 64.00 million US dollars," Head of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) of West Sulawesi Province, Agus Gede Hermawan in Mamuju, quoted from Antara, Wednesday, August 4.

Cumulatively, the export value of West Sulawesi increased by 30.20 percent, from US$242 million in January to June 2020, to US$315.07 million during January and June 2021. According to him, in June 2021, West Sulawesi's exports to a number of destination countries the principal amounted to 45.70 million US dollars.

"The value of exports to China in June 2021 remains the highest, reaching 17.36 million US dollars or 37.98 percent of the total exports of West Sulawesi," he said.

Meanwhile, the value of exports to Pakistan in June 2021 was 13.23 million or 28.96 percent, and the Philippines reached 10.77 million US dollars or 23.57 percent.

"Animal/vegetable fats and oils are the main export commodities during June 2021 with a contribution of 96.46 percent of West Sulawesi's total exports," he said.

He also said that the import value of West Sulawesi in June 2021 reached 0.64 million US dollars in May 2021.

"Oil and gas is an imported commodity carried out by West Sulawesi during June 2020," he said.

Cumulatively, the import value for the January-June 2021 period was recorded at 1.03 million US dollars and an increase of 40.88 percent compared to the January to June 2020 period which was recorded at 0.73 million US dollars.
