Don't Want To Change Lifestyle Despite Collection Of 7 Olympic Gold, Caeleb Dressel: It's More Fun When No One Knows My Name

JAKARTA - United States swimming champion Caeleb Dressel does not want to change his lifestyle even though he is now a five-time gold medalist at the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.

Competing in simple ways was his favorite part of the experience which saw him win three individual events - the men's 100m butterfly, men's 50m and 100m freestyle, plus two relay gold medals.

The 24-year-old sprint specialist has now won seven Olympic gold medals, but he believes the memories he made along the way of life are what mean the most to him.

"The fun part for me is that I have to be a part of the race," he said on CBS's This Morning chat show Tuesday.

"Anyone would try to win and be in my situation - Olympic finals, racing for your country, winning gold medals," he said.

"I don't have to remember what the fun part was," he said pointing to one of his gold medals.

Asked if the gold medals represented a "life-changing experience", Dressel had no qualms saying he would not.

"I don't want my life to change," he said.

"I loved my life before the Olympics. To be honest, this sport is much more fun when no one knows my name."

Dressel then plans to take a break from the pool and vacation with his now-married high school sweetheart, Meghan, who looks enthusiastically cheering him on from Florida during the competition.

"Meghan and I haven't had our honeymoon yet," he told Good Morning America.

"Maybe we'll try to plan that." according to Reuters.
