Village Fund Corruption, Village Head In Aceh Sentenced To 5 Years In Prison
BANDA ACEH - The panel of judges at the Banda Aceh Corruption Court sentenced the village head in East Aceh Regency to five years in prison. The defendant was found guilty of committing a criminal act of corruption in village funds.
The verdict or decision was read out by a panel of judges chaired by Judge Zulfikar, accompanied by Nani Sukmawati and Mardefni respectively as member judges, at the Banda Aceh Corruption Court, in Banda Aceh, Tuesday, August 3.
The defendant Jalal Andi Feriansyah bin Abu Rahman, Keuchik or Head of HTI Village Ranto Naru, Simpang Jernih District, East Aceh Regency. Meanwhile, the public prosecutor (JPU), Wahyudi from the East Aceh District Attorney.
The trial took place virtually with the defendants from Binjai Prison, North Sumatra. Jalal Andi Feriansyah bin Abu Rahman, apart from being a defendant in a corruption crime, is currently also a convict in a theft case
The panel of judges stated that the defendant was found guilty of violating Article 2 paragraph (1) in conjunction with Article 18 paragraph (1), (2), (3) of the Republic of Indonesia Law Number 31 of 1999 concerning the Eradication of Criminal Acts of Corruption which was changed to RI Law Number 20 2001.
In addition to a five-year prison sentence, the panel of judges also sentenced the defendant Jalal Andi Feriansyah bin Abu Rahman to pay a fine of IDR 200 million, a subsidiary of six months in prison.
The panel of judges also sentenced the defendant Jalal Andi Feriansyah bin Abu Rahman to pay a state loss of Rp. 625.5 million, provided that if the defendant did not pay, his property was confiscated. If they do not own property, the defendant is sentenced to two years in prison.
The Head of the East Aceh District Prosecutor's Office through the Head of the Intelligence Section Andi Zulanda said the defendant committed a criminal act of corruption in the village funds of HTI Village Ranto Naru, Simpang Jernih District, East Aceh Regency for the 2017 fiscal year which caused state losses of Rp. 625.5 million.
Andi Zulanda said that during the investigation and investigation process, Jalal Andi Feriansyah had fled from East Aceh Regency out of Aceh Province.
"However, the person concerned was found to be in the Binjai Correctional Institution, North Sumatra related to the theft case. Currently, the defendant Jalal Andi Feriansyah bin Abu Rahman is being held at the Binjai Correctional Institution," said Andi Zulanda.
