Jokowi: Those Intending To Corrupt Covid-19 Handling Funds, Please Be 'Bitten'
JAKARTA - President Joko Widodo ordered the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK), the Attorney General's Office, and Civil Servant Investigators (PNS) to enforce the law for those who intend to corrupt the funds for handling the COVID-19 pagebluk which is allocated Rp. 677.2 trillion.
According to him, the funds for handling COVID-19 and for economic recovery are quite large. So, Jokowi asked that budget management be right on target, the procedure was easy, and the results could be maximally felt by the public.
Jokowi emphasized that there should be no corruption from the budget. He said, anyone who commits corruption from early childhood must be punished in order to maintain government accountability in managing the COVID-19 handling budget.
"Prevention must take precedence. Good governance must take precedence. But if someone is still stubborn, if there is an intention of corruption, there is a mens reaction, please be bitten by you, ladies and gentlemen," Jokowi said when opening the 2020 national government internal supervision coordination meeting which was broadcast on Monday. the Presidential Secretariat YouTube account, Monday, June 15.
However, Jokowi reminded the law enforcers not to ensnare perpetrators who do not have mens rea.
"Don't bite those who don't have a mens reaction. Don't spread fear to the executors who are doing their job," said Jokowi.
He also reminded various internal supervisors such as the Financial and Development Supervisory Agency (BPKP), the Inspectorate and the Government Procurement Policy Agency (LKPP) to carry out prevention and improvement of governance.
The institution, continued Jokowi, must work together and synergize with the external supervisor, namely the Supreme Audit Agency (BPK) in an effort to prevent corruption related to the Rp677.2 trillion budget.
The synergy of law enforcement officials, between the KPK, the Attorney General's Office and the National Police, he said, must also be maintained. "With the synergy and checks and balances between institutions and community support, I am sure we can work better in dealing with all problems and challenges more quickly," he concluded.
