Facebook Requires All Employees To Wear Masks At Work

JAKARTA - Facebook on Monday, August 2, announced it would begin requiring all of its employees to wear masks while on campuses in the US, regardless of the employee's vaccination status.

"The health and safety of our employees and neighbors in the community remains our top priority," a company spokesperson said in a statement. "Given the increasing number of COVID cases, recent data on COVID variants, and increasing number of local requirements, we are re-enacting our mask requirements at all Facebook US offices, regardless of employee vaccination status."

The new policy took effect on Wednesday, August 4th and will remain in effect until further notice. The decision comes as several local governments in the San Francisco Bay Area issued similar orders requiring everyone to wear a mask when indoors in public places.

Facebook's campus mask policy comes after the company announced last week that it would require all US workers returning to its offices to be vaccinated.

The company is not alone in the technology industry in re-implementing health safety measures as Covid-19 cases are rising again as a result of the Delta variant.

Google last week announced it would require employees on campus to be vaccinated and postponed plans to return to work until October. Apple also postponed plans to return to the office until October at the earliest, according to a report last month.
