Police Arrest Again Perpetrator Of Ambulance Vandalism Who Was Ingested By Hoax Eyes Of COVID-19 Body Missing In Jember
JEMBER - The police have again arrested the perpetrators of the case of destroying an ambulance and snatching a COVID-19 body that occurred in Sukma Ilang Hamlet, Pace Village, Silo District, Jember.
Both have the initials IM (24) and MRA (23), from Dusun Sukma Ilang. A total of five perpetrators have been arrested so far.
"Two additional people were arrested with the initials IM (24) and MRA (23), they are residents of Sukmo Ilang Hamlet, Pace Village, Silo District. Both were arrested by officers Monday night," said Jember Police Criminal Investigation Unit Head AKP Komang Yogi Arya Wiguna, Tuesday, August 3. 2021.
Komang said IM was suspected of hitting the windshield of the ambulance with his bare hands. Meanwhile, the MRA took action to deflate the tires and remove the ambulance tire covers.
"We urge the public not to be easily provoked by information that is not necessarily true, which in turn provokes emotions and commits unlawful acts," he said.
Previously, the police had named three suspects in the case of the seizure of the COVID-19 body and the destruction of the ambulance, the video of which went viral on social media.
The three suspects who were arrested for vandalizing the ambulance were ME (30), ES (35) and AR (26).
They were provoked by hoax information when someone said the eye organs of the corpse were missing. This triggers a number of residents to go berserk and will take the bodies forcibly.
The suspect was charged with Article 170 of the Criminal Code with a maximum penalty of 5 years in prison.
