It's Exciting To See Red Water Popping Up On Grajagan Beach Banyuwangi

BANYUWANGI - Video footage of blood-red water poking at Grajagan Beach Banyuwangi, East Java, has gone viral on social media.

This video was uploaded to the andreli48 Instagram account on Instagram, Tuesday, August 3. In the video, the red water comes out of the sand on the beach.

"It's amazing, Gerajakan Beach comes out of fresh blood. Or has anyone here seen anything like this, What's that?" write the account owner andreli48.

Regarding this phenomenon, the Head of Capture Fisheries of the Banyuwangi Fisheries Service, Suryono Bintang Samudera, admitted that he had heard of this phenomenon. His party will go to the beach location to check the phenomenon.

According to him, usually the red water on the beach is caused by dead algae and plankton.

"It could be that this phenomenon is due to dead algae or plankton. So a red tide phenomenon occurs," he said when contacted.

According to him, the information about this red water popping just happened at Grajagan Beach.

Suryono explained that the red tide phenomenon usually occurs when the seasons change. Because there is a difference in temperature at the bottom and the surface of the sea.

This temperature change causes plankton and algae to die.

"This happens because of upwelling, namely there is a vertical current from the seabed to the surface due to temperature differences," he said.

The impact of this red tide can be dangerous for marine biota ecosystems.

Because it usually releases ammonia which causes the fish in the area to die.

"We will check this, because we are worried that the incident will release ammonia. This can be toxic to the biota that live there," he said.
