Minister Of Health Budi Asks Grandpa Safaruddin To Invite The Elderly To Be Vaccinated: Tell Mr. Don't Be Afraid, Don't Turn Into Zombies
JAKARTA - Indonesian Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin, appreciated Safaruddin, a grandfather in South Sulawesi who pedaled a bicycle for 15 kilometers just because he wanted to get an injection of the COVID-19 vaccine.
In the opportunity to talk on the official YouTube channel of the Ministry of Health, which was seen on Tuesday, August 3, Budi asked why Safaruddin was involved in the vaccination.
"How can this go viral once everyone watches and sees. Mr. Safaruddin, do you want to be vaccinated because of your own wishes, your family or what?" asked the Minister of Health Budi.
Safaruddin admitted of his own volition and awareness that he wanted to be vaccinated because he was afraid of the threat of COVID-19. Meanwhile, many people in their villages do not get vaccinated because they are afraid of being injected.
"Why don't they want to, are they afraid of being injected? You told them, don't be afraid, you didn't turn into a zombie, did you?
Safaruddun revealed that he had the courage to inject the vaccine because he did not want to be infected and transmit COVID-19 to his relatives. Even their peers have been asked why they don't want to be vaccinated, the reason is that the majority are afraid.
After being vaccinated, this 64-year-old grandfather revealed that there were no worrying side effects. "It's normal, it's not cold. I'm afraid of corona, there are many relatives so that it doesn't get infected. I just want to be vaccinated in principle. The child never asked me to," said Safaruddin.
The Minister of Health also gave a thumbs up to Safaruddin who was willing to walk long distances to get vaccinated. He hopes that the elderly throughout Indonesia will also follow Safaruddin's courage.
"Hopefully, it will inspire seniors in Indonesia to come to vaccination," said Minister of Health Budi
To note, after the video went viral and was in the spotlight, Safaruddin (64) received a motorbike as a gift from the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi Andi Sudirman Sulaiman and artist Ivan Gunawan. Previously, the video of Safaruddin's grandfather cycling 15 kilometers to get a COVID-19 vaccine shot, became viral on social media. The gift of a motorbike from the Acting Governor of South Sulawesi was given directly to Safaruddin on Friday, July 30. The grandfather who worked as a motorcycle washer also had a virtual conversation with the Minister of Health Budi Gunadi Sadikin. Yesterday afternoon, it was easy for Mr. Safar and his family to have a blessing and the request was conveyed directly by Mr. Safar when he spoke virtually with the Minister of Health," said Andi, Saturday, July 31.
