The Unveiling Of Pandora's Down For Life Box Through Apocalyptic

JAKARTA - There is something new from the metal troop from Solo, Down For Life. A new single song titled Apokaliptika has been released since the end of last May, accompanied by a lyric video that airs on the YouTube channel Blackandje Records, the label that oversees them.

The COVID-19 pandemic seems to force the world to take a break from its hustle and bustle. All sectors were affected, including the music industry. Concerts, festivals and tours are postponed or canceled as one way of breaking the chain of transmission of the virus. However, Down For Life responded to this condition with a work.

Apokaliptika is the second single after Mantra Bentala, which was released at the end of 2019. These two songs are part of the fourth album which is scheduled to be released this year.

The recording process was hampered by following government recommendations to reduce activities outside the home and traveling between cities. But this did not make the band, which was formed at the end of 1999, to be silent.

The Apocalyptic recording process has been carried out since October 2019 at Blackandje Records' Darktone Studio in the Cijantung area, East Jakarta. This song was originally titled Dead Shall Rise. However, to respond to the existing conditions, vocalist Stephanus Adjie suggested changing the title and lyrics in Indonesian to make it more relevant.

The new vocal recording was done in March 2020 at the same studio. The music was arranged by Rio Baskara assisted by Isa Mahendrajati, Muhammad 'Abdul' Latief and Ahmad 'Jojo' Ashar. But because of his busy schedule, Jojo was replaced by Mattheus Amadeus Aditirtono during the recording.

Meanwhile, the mixing was done by Adria Sarvianto, concurrently a producer with Stephanus Adjie and mastering by Benitho Siahaan.

"Soundly speaking, the Apocalyptic song is not much different from the previous single while continuing to explore the sound. Blending a modern metal sound with Down For Life's own musical character," said Stephanus Adjie in a written statement received by VOI.

"The music arrangement is heavier with a tight blasting drum, slashing guitar riffs, variations of growl and scream vocals and a longer song duration," continued Adjie.

This second single became a kind of opening from the Pandora's fourth album Down For Life box. Get ready for a change in civilization with Apocalyptic
