Mayor Of Surabaya Gives Prosthetic Feet To 2 People With Disabilities
SURABAYA - Surabaya Mayor Eri Cahyadi went directly to the homes of two people with disabilities in Karang Tembok and Wonokusomo, to provide assistance with prosthetic legs.
"Installed directly, yes, there is a team from the Health Office that helps panjenengan (you). It is used every day so that you can carry out activities as usual," said Mayor Eri when handing over prosthetic limbs to people with disabilities, Mahrus at Karang Tembok 2/7, RT 8 RW 3 Pegirian Village, Surabaya quoted by Antara, Monday, August 2.
Besides Mahrus, Mayor Eri, who was accompanied by the Head of the Surabaya Health Service (Dinkes) Febria Rachmanita, also gave a prosthetic leg to Abdul Manan, a resident of Wonokusumo Jaya Gang 5 Surabaya.
The two persons with disabilities both had an accident. Mahrus, who is a member of the Youth Organization, had an accident since he was in elementary school.
Arriving at the first location, the Mayor of Eri immediately handed over the prosthetic leg to Mahrus. Without waiting long he asked Mahrus to immediately put the prosthetic leg, so that it can be used for daily activities.
Eri Cahyadi asked Mahrus not to stop being grateful for what he had. In addition, it also provides motivation and enthusiasm for a better tomorrow with its advantages and disadvantages.
"Panjenengan (you) add gratitude, this is not from me, but from Allah SWT. Take care of it well, hopefully it will be useful," he said.
Even at that moment, the number one person in the Surabaya City Government environment invited Mahrus to join in praying that the City of Heroes would soon be free from the COVID-19 pandemic. According to him, one of the efforts to overcome COVID-19 is prayer from the community.
"Please pray that the pandemic will stop soon, so that the wheels of the economy will return to work and all citizens are healthy, don't forget the high health protocols (prokes)," he said.
After 20 minutes there, the former Head of the Surabaya City Development Planning Agency (Bappeko) immediately went to the second location. On that occasion, Eri said that this assistance is a function of the government.
For him, the ranks of the Surabaya City Government must know what the people need. "I always tell the staff to step down, see what the people's needs are. Because when it is fulfilled, they trust the government," he said.
Meanwhile, the Head of the Surabaya City Health Office, Febria Rachmanita, added that previously the prosthetics had passed the examination and trial stages to patients. In the process, Febria parses the patient several times to find the most comfortable size.
Not only that, once installed, later, every two weeks the officers will carry out the control. Then, the orthopedic doctor's examination schedule will be carried out in the first and third months of use.
"So it takes adjustment but hopefully we can adapt to new conditions soon. We will continue to monitor it," he said.
For residents who experience these limitations, can directly write to the Surabaya City Government, Health Office or addressed to the mayor. From there it will be processed and given free of charge without being charged a penny for Surabaya residents.
"Please, we will make it free. The procedure is in writing, we will get a reply from us," he said.
One of the recipients of Abdul Mannan's prosthetic limbs thanked Mayor Eri. He ensures that this tool is very useful for the days ahead. "Once again, thank you very much, God is repaying Mr. Eri's kindness," he said.
