BPS: Inflation In July 0.08 Percent, Rise In Food And Beverage Prices Become A Support
JAKARTA - The Central Statistics Agency (BPS) reported inflation of 0.08 percent on a monthly basis (month-on-month/m-om) in July 2021 compared to June 2021.
Head of BPS Margo Yuwono said the book made the accumulated inflation during the current year (January-July) to 0.81 percent.
"Inflation occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by a 0.15 percent increase in the index for the expenditure group, namely the food, beverage and tobacco group," he said in a virtual press conference, Monday, August 2.
In addition, Margo also noted that several sectors that were known to increase were the clothing and footwear group by 0.08 percent, the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.05 percent, and the equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group. households by 0.11 percent.
Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that experienced a decline in the index were the transportation group by 0.01 percent and the personal care and other services group by 0.07 percent.
Meanwhile, 61 cities in Indonesia experienced inflation and 29 cities experienced deflation.
"The highest inflation occurred in Sorong at 1.51 percent with a CPI (Consumer Price Index) of 108.33 and the lowest occurred in Sampit at 0.01 percent with a CPI of 107.10," he said.
Meanwhile, the highest deflation occurred in Manokwari of 0.60 percent with a CPI of 109.89 and the lowest occurred in Maumere and Samarinda of 0.01 percent each with a CPI of 106.65 and 105.69, respectively.
"This condition makes the year-on-year inflation rate (July 2021 to July 2020) at 1.52 percent," concluded Margo.
